Dentures in Raleigh, NC
If you have lost all of your natural teeth due to injury, gum disease, or tooth decay, dentures are a prosthetic replacement option to give you a natural-looking smile.
Why dentures?
The loss of teeth not only can impact your speech patterns and the ability to chew foods, it also causes your facial muscles to sag, making you appear older. Dentures help restore your ability to chew solid foods, speak clearly, and fill out the appearance of your face and smile, while also allowing the ability to easily remove them for quick cleaning or repair.
Raleigh Dentist Dr. Justin Russo offers his patients both full and partial dentures, which can be used as a cost-effective way to replace several or all missing teeth at once. Dental implants can be placed in your mouth in strategic areas to anchor a denture into place so that it does not move around while chewing or speaking.
Dr. Russo offers two types of removable dentures:
- Partial dentures. Partial dentures help close the gap between missing teeth. The replacement teeth are set in a plastic base that fits over your remaining teeth.
- Full (or conventional) dentures. Conventional dentures are used if all of your natural teeth need to be replaced. The replacement teeth are placed in your mouth after the remaining teeth have been removed and your gums have healed, which may take several months.
Dr. Russo can fix your ill-fitting dentures!
People that have dentures and feel like their cheeks droop or collect liquid in the crevices around their mouth may be suffering from lack of bite height, and cheek and lip support. Ill-fitting dentures can put awkward pressure on your remaining jawbone making it disappear faster all the while becoming less of a candidate for dental implants.
