Most people have no idea what a veneer is, does, or can do.
Let me quickly break down what a porcelain veneer does: A porcelain veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is permanently bonded onto your teeth. A porcelain veneer is shiny, doesn’t stain, and reflects light. It can cover the lip facing side, the in-between your teeth side, and the chewing side. Veneers are best kept in the enamel, the outer layer of your teeth and do not have to be significantly difficult to prepare.
Porcelain veneers, among many other things, can be used to:
- Brighten (AKA whiten) teeth
- Create symmetry of teeth
- Improve facial balance, many times giving patients a more youthful appearance
- Correct spacing between teeth
- Correct crowding of teeth
Porcelain veneers last between 10 and 20 years if cared for properly i.e. brushing, flossing, and routine dental cleanings. Porcelain veneers are an investment, but remember my philosophy: you’re worth it!
